Care

With proper care your board should last a lifetime. For everyday cleaning, using just a soft sponge, warm water and plain dish soap should be sufficient. Allow to air dry standing on its edge overnight. Never soak submersed in water, it could lead to warping or even cracks. For odor removal you can squeeze lemon juice on the board, sprinkle liberally with kosher or other coarse salt and use the squeezed half lemon to rub in the salt. Scrape the salt paste off and wash as normal.

In the beginning, about once a month, give it a good wash, let dry standing on its edge. Follow by applying a light coating of Board Gravy. Heating the board with a hair dryer will help with absorption. Allow to sit for about 20 minutes, then buff out with a paper towel.

It’s as simple as that!

Repairs

Do you have a cutting board or butcher block that needs more than just a little TLC? Maybe a family heirloom that has lost all it’s luster, started to separate at the glue lines or even as far gone as in pieces? Feel free to send a couple of pictures featuring the entire board and a few close-ups of the problem areas. We can do minor restoration to major rebuilding.
